Just two weeks after his nostalgia-inducing trick-or-treat comedy “Hubie Halloween” debuted at No. 1 on the Netflix Top Ten, it appears that Adam Sandler has found his next big role for the streaming service.

The SNL alum is teaming up with director Johan Renck for a screen adaptation of Jaroslav Kalfar’s Czech novel “The Spaceman of Bohemia,” according to Deadline. Colby Day, an up-and-coming short filmmaker has signed on to adapt the script.

According to the site, Sandler is slated to play an astronaut tasked with collecting ancient dust from the far reaches of the galaxy. While on the journey, he begins to commune with a mysterious voice about his tumultuous life at home and later discovers that the voice belongs to a peculiar entity lurking within his spacecraft.

“Bohemia” will be Renck’s feature directorial debut after nabbing two primetime Emmy awards in 2019 for his work on the HBO miniseries “Chernobyl.”

“As we prepare for our voyage to Chopra, I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the perfect partner in Adam,” the director told Deadline. “And now, with the support of the brilliant Netflix family, I am profoundly excited to set off on our impossible journey.”

Sandler signed a six-movie deal with Netflix back in 2014 that was extended to 10 films in January. “Hubie Halloween” marked the sixth installment of the Sandler-Netflix partnership and — with the sports picture “Hustle” reportedly in production — “Bohemia” is expected to be the actor’s eighth collaboration with the streaming giants.

While he’s most notably recognized for his his goofball performances in Happy Madison productions, reports are circulating that this film will feature another infrequent dramatic turn from Sandler — similar to his award-winning portrayal as Howard Ratner in 2019’s extremely R-rated crime drama “Uncut Gems,” or his Golden Globe-nominated performance in the 2002 also very R-rated arthouse hit “Punch Drunk Love.”

Amongst others, Deadline reports the film will be produced by Channing Tatum (yes, that Channing Tatum) and the production companies Free Association and Tango Entertainment.
