If you’re still looking for some Halloween costume inspiration, Google might be able to help.
Google released its annual “Frightgeist,” which reveals the most-searched and “top-trending” costumes so far this year.
The Halloween costumes that were trending in September are “action-packed,” according to Google. Costumes from Netflix’s “Cobra Kai” came in at No. 1, and “The Mandalorian” from the Disney Plus series also made the list.
Here’s the top 10 trending costumes:
- Cobra Kai
- Dungeon master
- The Mandalorian
- Space cowgirl
- Trolls
- Belle
- Marshmello
- Inflatable shark
- Firefighter
- Sanderson sisters
“Frightgeist” also includes a map that shows the most popular Halloween costumes by location. For example, the top costume in both Juneau, Alaska, and Jacksonville, Florida, was “hot dog,” while San Antonio, Texas, searched for “pinata” costumes and Bangor, Maine, searched for “lobster.”
In Utah, the most popular costume search was “clown,” followed by “princess,” “rabbit,” “The Wizard of Oz,” and “Stormtrooper.”
Google also looked at the trending costumes for pets, children and babies. The top pet costumes were “cat taco” and “corgi stegosaurus,” and for babies the trending costumes were “baby shark” and “baby Yoda.” For kids, some of the top costumes were “Supergirl,” “flamingo,” and “Hocus Pocus.”
Of course, Halloween is bound to look a little different this year for many people. Costume searches on Google were down by 27% compared to 2019, according to Fox News.
The CDC has suggested that people celebrate Halloween with “lower-risk activities” this year during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to “Good Morning America.” Ideas include socially distanced pumpkin carving, a virtual costume contest, or an outdoor Halloween scavenger hunt.
