The timeless film and fashion icon Audrey Hepburn will be the subject of a new documentary slated for release at the end of the month.

Directed by Helena Coan and produced by the BAFTA-nominated team behind “McQueen,” this film — simply titled “Audrey” — will discuss sides of Hepburn that the public is less acquainted with.

The documentary will explore seldom-addressed subjects including the actress’s difficult childhood, plagued with malnutrition and loss, in postwar Holland, according to townandcountrymag.com.

What we know

  • The new documentary will be available on DVD and digital download on Nov. 30, according to HarpersBazaar.com.
  • According to the site, “Audrey” will showcase never-seen-before footage of the actress, as well as interviews segments with members of her family including her son Sean Hepburn Ferrer.
  • The film will feature three acclaimed dancers enacting the actress’s life in distinct stages. The sequences were choreographed by Wayne McGregor, according to townandcountrymag.com, and feature Keira Moore as “Young Audrey,” Francesca Hayward as “Hollywood era Audrey’” and Alessandra Ferri as Audrey in her later years.

Key Quote

Describing the documentary, director Helena Coan said:

“The film provides intimate interviews with those who knew her best, woven around rare archival footage. ... However, we have taken it one step further and worked with multi award-winning British choreographer, Wayne McGregor CBE, to create dance sequences inspired by Audrey’s love of ballet, building a beguiling and emotionally affecting portrait of Audrey. ... Dance magnifies Audrey’s emotional landscape and brings a heightened sense of drama and theatre to the film, as well as a rich visual language which has not yet been used in documentary,” via slashfilm.com.
