Disney Plus announced Thursday morning that Marvel’s “WandaVision” will debut early next year.
- The show will premiere on Disney Plus Jan. 15.
- “A new era arrives,” Disney Plus said in a tweet.
The announcement came with a brief trailer that showed an old television flipping through images of Vision and Wanda, along with the sitcom laugh track.

Disney Plus shared the first official trailer for “WandaVision” during the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards back in September, as I wrote about for the Deseret News. The trailer showed just how wacky and wild the new show will be.
‘WandaVision’ will be a family sitcom
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told Entertainment Weekly the idea for the show came from how he was missing sitcoms in the modern era of television.
- “I would get ready for the day and watch some old sitcom because I couldn’t take the news anymore,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “Getting ready to go to set over the last few years, I kept thinking of how influential these programs were on our society and on myself, and how certainly I was using it as an escape from reality where things could be tied up in a nice bow in 30 minutes.”
Will ‘WandaVision’ be based on a comic book?
Wanda and Vision have had a relationship in the comic books for years. They were married in a 1975 comic book for the “Avengers” series. They even had their own miniseries, titled “Vision and the Scarlet Watch,” in 1982.
