A “Hamilton”-themed Christmas light display in Utah has received a lot of attention — including from the musical’s creator.
From their Saratoga Springs home, Mitch and Shenan Faas recently debuted a high-tech synchronized light show set to a medley of “Hamilton” songs — everything from “You’ll Be Back” to “My Shot” to “The Room Where it Happens,” Broadway World reported.
The couple has created light shows for years, and their holiday displays even have an official Facebook page. This Christmas season, the family has been accepting donations and raising funds for United Way of Utah County’s Sub for Santa program. After seeing the “Hamilton” light display online, Miranda reached out to the Faases and contributed $1,000 to the cause.
”Incredible display, Happy Holidays! Siempre, LMM.”
A couple of days later, the official social media pages for “Hamilton” shared a video of the light display, writing: “Taking #HamForTheHolidays to the next level”
“You guys this is seriously getting CRAZY!! We thought Lin Manuel Miranda himself reaching out personally and sending us $1,000 for our United Way Sub for Santa charity was epic enough,” the couple wrote on its Facebook page. “The official Hamilton page just shared our video and tagged us on FB, Instagram, and Twitter and we are already over 1 million views!!
“Someone needs to pinch us because this is surreal!!! We are through the moon that all our hard work all year long is being enjoyed by so many people!”
But the “Hamilton” medley is just one part of this year’s Christmas display.
The free light show — located at 632 N. Meridian Dr., Saratoga Springs — also features “Into the Unknown” from “Frozen 2,” and Star Wars” and “Avengers” medleys, among other tracks, according to Facebook. The tracks play on a continuous loop Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. MT, and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., according to utahvalley.com.
Viewers can tune in at 92.1 FM. This year, the display runs through Jan. 3.
