Fortnite has started its fifth season with two “Star Wars” characters coming to save the day — the Mandalorian and Grogu (or, you know, Baby Yoda).

What’s going on?

Fortnite ended its fourth season of its second chapter Monday with a massive in-game event, which featured Marvel Comics villain Galactus trying to destroy the Fortnite island. He was later defeated by Iron man, Thor and a number of Fortnite battle buses.

  • Galactus ended up destroying parts of the map. So now, Jonesy — who has become something of a main character in Fortnite — has been tasked to protect the island and save the location’s energy source.
  • So he reaches out to the Mandalorian Din Djarin and Grogu (Baby Yoda) to help him.
  • He also reaches out to a cowboy made of flapjacks.

You can see the trailer for the new season below.

It’s a new take on Fortnite

The game’s new premise is a little different than before since it allows players to earn bounties in order to recruit new players, Engadget reports.

  • And the game will add even more characters from other realities in the near future, which means more crossover events are likely.

This was rumored last week

Fortnite rumors suggested the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda would appear in the new season as playable characters. Multiple leaked photos showed the characters in poster art, which suggested gamers could use the characters on the Fortnite map, as I wrote about for the Deseret News.
