Fortnite launched its fifth season of chapter 2 on Wednesday morning, bringing in two popular “Star Wars” characters after a massive tie-in event.
The new season
The new Fortnite season will features Jonesy — who has become something of a main character for the franchise — seeking out other heroes to help him keep the Fortnite island safe.
- The Mandalorian and Grogu (from “The Mandalorian” show) are making their debut as playable characters for the season.
The new season will call for gamers to collect bounties to invite new heroes to help keep the island safe. More characters will come into the season as it progresses.
When does the new season end?
The Express reports that data files show season 5 will likely end March 16. That’s a Tuesday that is about 90 days after the first day of the season. Fortnite seasons often last for 90 days.
- March 17, 2021, would likely be the release date for season 6.
Sometimes Epic Games will extend seasons because of delays or massive changes. The biggest of these happened before season 3, delaying the season’s release for multiple weeks, as I wrote about for the Deseret News.
The second season of Fortnite Chapter 2 was supposed to end April 30 but it was pushed back to June 4. No specific reason was given for this change.
