“Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical!” will air Wednesday night, bringing a little bit of Whoville to America.

What’s going on?

“Glee” star Matthew Morrison will play the Grinch in a new NBC holiday live production “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical!”

  • The show will follow the trend of live musicals that air on national television. However, the show won’t be live, as I wrote about for the Deseret News. The production was filmed at the Troubadour Theatre in London and will be shown again tonight.

Why it matters now

Morrison told Entertainment Weekly his version of the Grinch reflects modern society, specifically people who are living in quarantine during the pandemic.

  • “I used a lot of the collective sorrow that we are all feeling globally. I used a lot of that energy that I feel every morning when I wake up,” he said.
