“The Office” star John Krasinski recently said that he would “love” to return to “The Office” for a reunion, fueling rumors that have gone on for years that the show will have a reboot or a reunion.
What’s going on?
- Krasinski told Esquire he would love to return to Dunder Mifflin.
- Krasinski said: “‘The Office’ was absolutely everything to me. I mean it is my beginning and my end. I’m pretty sure at the end of my career I’ll still be known for Jim. That was my first experience with Hollywood. It was the first creative family I’ve ever had. In many ways, they will always be the most important people in that most important experience in my career. So yeah, if they did a reunion, I would absolutely love to do it.”
Is this new?
- Krasinski has supported an “Office” reboot for years. He told Entertainment Weekly in 2018 that he would support a reboot.
- Krasinski said he would support a Christmas special reunion, which is something the original British version of the show experimented with, too.
- Krasinski told EW: “Maybe we could do like a Christmas special or something. The British show did a Christmas special, which is like, ‘Where are they now?’ for one episode because I don’t know how we’ll get everybody together for 22 episodes.”
What does NBC say?
- Bonnie Hammer, the NBCU chairman of Direct-to-Customer and Digital Enterprises, said the network has considered the idea of a reboot, according to Parade magazine.
Who else would be down?
- Steve Carrell reportedly does not want to join the reboot.
- Angela Kinsey (Angela) would be interested.
- Ellie Kemper and Jenna Fischer have all expressed support, too.
- Ed Helms has been mixed about it.
