Production for the second season of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” has officially begun, Disney Plus announced Wednesday.

What’s going on: Disney Plus announced the second season of the show started production in Salt Lake City already.

  • The East High students will perform “Beauty and the Beast” as a spring musical in the show.
  • The show is set to debut in 2020 on Disney Plus.

What to expect: The show will mix “High School Musical” lore with “Beauty and the Beast.”

  • Disney Plus said: “The second season will include reimagined musical numbers from both the ‘High School Musical’ movies and the stage production of ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ in addition to brand-new songs that join hits from season 1 like ‘Born to Be Brave’ and ‘Just for a Moment.’”
  • Creator and executive producer Tim Federle will return for the next season.
