Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson shared an update about their coronavirus diagnosis on social media after testing positive earlier this week.

What happened:

  • Hanks shared a photo of his wife Thursday night. He thanked everyone who shared support for them.
  • Hanks wrote: “Hello folks. Rita Wilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have COVID-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else.”
  • Hanks wrote: “There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no?”
  • Hanks and Wilson confirmed the coronavirus diagnosis Wednesday night. The confirmation came during the same time that it was reported that Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert had tested positive for the coronavirus.

What else happened:

  • Wilson and Hanks were in Australia filming a movie about Elvis Presley, CNN reports. The country has seen 120 confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
  • Wilson had visited Australia’s Nine Network for a morning show on Monday. The network promptly sent all staffers into quarantine after the diagnosis came to light, according to CNN.
