The Golden Raspberry Awards, or the Razzies, honor the worst films each year.
This year, the 40th annual Razzie Awards ceremony was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. So the winners — read losers — were announced online Monday.
“Cats” came out on top.
“Cats” won a total of six awards, including the highest honor — worst picture, according to CNN.
Tom Hooper received the awards for worst director and worst screenplay; James Corden won worst supporting actor for his role as Bustopher Jones; Rebel Wilson won worst supporting actress for her role as Jennyanydots; and all of the strange feline/human creations won the award for worst screen combo.
There are only 11 Razzie Awards given out, so “Cats” truly swept the season, BBC reported.
“Rambo: Last Blood” came in second. The film won the award for worst remake, ripoff or sequel, and worst reckless disregard for human life and public property.
It’s no surprise “Cats” did so well at the Razzies. The film received poor reviews and was a financial flop, coming in at $70 million short of making a profit, the Deseret News reported.
