SALT LAKE CITY — Ballet West on Tuesday announced two of its dancers have tested positive for COVID-19.
Both dancers — who were not identified in a news release sent out Tuesday afternoon — had been traveling out of state since March 1 and recently returned to Salt Lake City, according to the company. The two dancers haven’t had contact with Ballet West Academy students, Ballet West staff or other dancers since returning from their East Coast trip, according to Ballet West.
The two dancers are currently under self-quarantine.
“The two dancers who tested positive had not returned to the Ballet West campus, and had not had any contact with other co-workers or students,” Michael Scolamiero, Ballet West’s executive director, confirmed in the release.
Ballet West says it will not be releasing more information due to privacy concerns.
The report comes a day after Ballet West announced it would be altering its upcoming performance schedule.
- “Bolero and the Dream,” which was originally scheduled for April 17-25, will be postponed to June 18-21, according to the company.
- The Choreographic Festival will still be held May 14-16, although visiting companies Singapore Dance Theatre and Royal New Zealand Ballet will not present at the festival.
