Disney and Pixar’s “Onward” will be available on demand and on Disney Plus sooner than you think.
What’s happening:
- The Walt Disney Company announced Friday morning that “Onward” will be available for digital released and on demand beginning Friday, March 20, beginning at 5 p.m. PT (6 p.m. MT).
- The film will drop on Disney Plus on April 3.
- “Onward” was released on March 6, earning critical acclaim afters its release.
- “While we’re looking forward to audiences enjoying our films on the big screen again soon, given the current circumstances, we are pleased to release this fun, adventurous film to digital platforms early for audiences to enjoy from the comfort of their homes.” — Dan Scanlon (director, “Onward”) and Kori Rae (producer, “Onward”).
- “Onward” tells the story of two brothers Ian (Tom Holland) and Barley Lightfoot (Chris Pratt) who venture out on a quest to bring their father back to live.
‘Onward’ is the latest new movie to hit on-demand
- Multiple studios have decided to release films on demand early given that millions across the country have been asked to stay inside due to the coronavirus pandemic.
- Universal Studios announced it would release many of its current in-theater films — “The Invisible Man,” “The Hunt” and “Emma” — on demand early. “Trolls World Tour” will be released entirely on demand rather than hitting theaters.
- Disney released “Frozen 2” on Disney Plus three months before its planned release too, according to the Deseret News.
