SALT LAKE CITY — If 2020 could be summarized in three letters, it would be “TBD.”

As the novel coronavirus, and its ensuing quarantines, have caused the cancellation or postponement of nearly all upcoming public entertainment events, concert venues’ plans are in constant flux right now.

In Utah, the largest and most prominent of these concert spaces is Vivint Arena. Owned by the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, the downtown arena has a seating capacity of 18,300. Numerous Vivint Arena concerts have recently been postponed. Here’s what they are.

Postponed (new dates TBD):

  • JoJo Siwa
  • Post Malone
  • Rogers Waters
  • Camila Cabello
  • Celine Dion
  • Ozuna

Rescheduled:

  • Cher: Rescheduled for Oct. 17

Vivint Arena has other concerts scheduled for May and beyond that have not yet been postponed/rescheduled/canceled, according to the arena’s website. Those shows include Michael Buble (May 8), Justin Bieber (June 9) and The Weeknd (July 29).

Larry H. Miller Sports and Entertainment’s Senior Vice President of Communications, Frank Zang, told the Deseret News the company is continuing to work to determine the status of future events.

“We have found that concert promoters and agents are actively looking for new dates for artists that have had to postpone dates,” Zang said in an email. “They are also very active in confirming future dates for artists, who are not touring at this time but are planning to work in 2021.”

According to Zang, Vivint Arena reps participate in a weekly conference call with the Venue Coalition, a group of 108 arenas and stadiums in the U.S. and Canada. The arena is also part of the International Association of Venue Managers, which includes most public use venues in North America. These organizations regularly share information with their networks of arena owners/managers.
