When 11-year-old Bella Tadlock of Tallahassee, Florida asked for donations to help her buy a Hero Arm from Open Bionics, she probably never expected Luke Skywalker himself to retweet it.

But he did — and with Hamill’s help, Bella was able to raise nearly $14,000 and be the first American to receive an R2-D2-themed Hero Arm prosthetic, the Independent reports.

Now, the two have begun an unlikely friendship, CNN reports, with Hamill taking the time to Skype with Bella and her mother, Pamela, and even send them passes to Disney World .

Bella was born without fingers on her right hand, and with a short left arm. After going through many painful surgical procedures to get three fingers and a thumb on her right hand, the New York Post reports she wanted a non-surgical solution for her left arm.

Open Bionics shared a video of Bella’s journey to get the Hero Arm, and her Skype call with Hamill. The two talk about their pets and Bella shows off her newfound independence, twisting the cap off a nearby water bottle.

“They call it a hero arm because you really are a hero,” Hamill says on the call, before ending with a Jedi classic: “May the force be with you, always.”
