For the next 42 days, 27-year-old rapper Cardi B has teamed up with Fashion Nova Cares to give away $1,000 every hour to families and individuals who have been financially impacted by the novel coronavirus, Billboard reports.
That’s $1 million in total.
“Many of you are struggling to pay bills, feed your families, and take care of your overall essential needs. #FashionNovaCARES & I are giving away $1,000 EVERY HOUR until we’ve given away $1 MILLION DOLLARS to those directly affected by this crisis,” she captioned her post on Instagram. The Deseret News did not link to Cardi B’s announcement video because it contains mature language.
Cardi B will send money directly to 24 people each day until May 20. Recipients will be selected through applications submitted on www.FashionNova.com/Cares. The short submission form asks for an email, phone number, public Instagram handle and a short “personal inspiration story.”
“People are struggling to pay rent, buy food, medicine and other essentials for themselves and their families,” Richard Saghian, founder and CEO of Fashion Nova, said in a press release, according to Forbes. “We all feel compassion and concern for those affected by the (novel) coronavirus.”
Cardi B has worked with Fashion Nova since 2018. Vox reports the singer has received as much as $20,000 in a month for repping the brand.
