Taylor Swift announced on Friday that her 2020 tour has been canceled, with her U.S. and Brazil shows being rescheduled for 2021, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“I’m so sad I won’t be able to see you guys in concert this year, but I know this is the right decision,” Swift wrote on Twitter.
An official statement about the canceled tour said that refunds for tickets would be available, and that the rescheduled dates would be coming later this year, according to THR.
“Fighting COVID-19 is an unprecedented challenge for our global community, and the safety and well-being of fans should always be the top priority,” read the statement that Swift shared on Twitter on Friday.
One of Swift’s planned performances for 2020, at the Glastonbury Festival in England, had already been canceled last month, according to Variety.
Fans who still want to see Swift perform can watch her from home this weekend, according to Billboard. Swift has joined Lady Gaga’s “One World: Together at Home” benefit concert that will take place on April 18.
Swift has been outspoken about taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously, urging fans to follow social distancing measures as well as giving money to help fans who are in need, according to the Deseret News.
“Please, please stay healthy and safe,” Swift wrote on Twitter on Friday. “I’ll see you on stage as soon as I can but right now what’s important is committing to this quarantine, for the sake of all of us.”
