Will Venom face off with Spider-Man in the next “Venom” film? Tom Hardy’s latest social media post indicates it’s possible.

But the post came about the same time that Sony announced the “Venom” sequel would be titled “Venom: Let There Be Carnage.”

- The sequel’s title suggests Hardy’s Eddie Brock will face off with Carnage, who was briefly played by Woody Harrelson at the end of the first “Venom” movie.
- Hardy’s post suggests Spider-Man may appear in the next film.
The ongoing rumors about Spider-Man
- Rumors about Spider-Man vs. Venom have been around for some time. There have been rumors of Spider-Man and Venom fighting in one of the next “Venom” films. Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man and Venom. But Sony inked a deal with Marvel, which allowed Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There’s been speculation that Spider-Man might appear in one of the “Venom” films and compete against Venom.
- There have been some rumors that Spider-Man will appear in other Sony comic book projects, too. We saw a poster for Spider-Man in the “Morbius” trailer, along with a brief shot of Michael Keaton’s character Vulture, who was the villain of “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” a film set in the MCU, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
