Walt Disney World Resort’s shopping, dining and entertainment complex Disney Springs in Florida kicked off a phased reopening Wednesday.

  • Third-party shops not connected to Disney opened at 10 a.m.. The entire complex will remain open until 10 p.m.
  • That said, not all the stores and restaurants will be open. Some will adjust their hours.
  • The Disney-owned shops at the World of Disney will reopen May 27.
  • The location saw plenty of lines within minutes of reopening, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Some additional context:

Disney announced earlier in May that Disney Springs would reopen May 20, giving people their first taste of Disney amid the coronavirus pandemic. All Disney theme parks — aside from Disneyland in Shanghai — remain closed during the pandemic.

Disney issued a rather blunt warning to visitors, though. The company suggested on its website that Disney visitors need to be wary of risks involved of attending.

  • The website reads: “An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By visiting Disney Springs you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.”

Official guidelines for visiting Disney Springs include wearing face masks and face coverings, except for when dining. Temperature checks will be required as well, as I wrote about for the Deseret News.
