“Full House” star Dave Coulier seems to be telling people to “cut it out” when it comes to allegations against Lori Loughlin, his former co-star.
Coulier, who starred on “Full House” as Joey, recently opened up to Us Weekly magazine about Lori Loughlin, who appeared on the show with him. Coulier has remained silent on Loughlin since the college admissions scandal began.
“However this kind of turns out, we’re there for her,” Coulier said. “The images that people see aren’t always what is true. And Lori is one of my closest and dearest friends on the planet, and it’s really unfortunate that this has happened, and I will be there for her forever.”
Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, are accused of paying $500,000 in bribes so that their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose Giannulli, could be team crew recruits for the University of Southern California. The couple pleaded not guilty to all charges.
In the immediate aftermath of the scandal, Loughlin was fired by the Hallmark Channel, which took her off of “When Calls the Heart.” Speculation began about whether or not she would appear on “Fuller House.” In the end, she was not brought back for the show’s final season.
Coulier said filming the fifth and final season of “Fuller House” without Loughlin — who exited the show due to the scandal — was “really sad.” He said it “didn’t feel right.”
Coulier isn’t the only “Full House” star to talk about Loughlin, though. John Stamos, who played Loughlin’s on-screen husband Uncle Jesse, has weighed in multiple times over the last year about the scandal.
“Whatever happened, I’m pretty sure that the punishment is not equal to the crime, if there was a crime,” he told GQ Magazine in 2019.
The cast of “Fuller House” seemed to address Loughlin at the 2019 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Jodie Sweetin, Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber, Elias Harger, Soni Bringas, Scott Weinger and Michael Campion all walked on stage together to talk about winning an award, as I wrote about for the Deseret News.
Bure said, “A loving family sticks together no matter what. They stick together through the hard times, they support each other, they encourage one another, they pray for each other — and they stand by their side no matter how tough it gets. And a loving family that sticks together also celebrates the really good times together.”
