Sony unveiled the design for the PlayStation 5 console during a showcase event Thursday, which highlighted upcoming games for the franchise.
What happened:
- At the end of Sony’s event, the company shared the full design for the PlayStation 5, which has white walls and a black core.
- The reveal showed off the console’s new controllers, headset, media remote and more as well.
- Sony revealed there would be a digital edition, too. Details about that version of the console are spared, but it will likely be a discless device that relies on digital downloads for games. The system won’t have a disc drive, per Polygon.

- No release date was announced. But Sony said at the gaming reveal showcase that the console is “launching later this year.”
