After postponing this year’s Deer Valley Music Festival to 2021, the Utah Symphony has announced 10 concert dates for next year’s festival.
Two new performances have been added to the 2021 schedule: Kristin Chenoweth, who will perform with the Symphony on July 10, and The Temptations on July 17, according to a release sent to the Deseret News.
Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth is no stranger to Utah or the Utah Symphony. In May, she made an appearance in the Utah Symphony’s online birthday celebration, the Deseret News reported. Chenoweth performed with the Symphony in 2019 and with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square in 2018.
The Temptations had been originally scheduled to perform with the Utah Symphony as part of its 2019-2020 season at Abravanel Hall before the Symphony postponed the remainder of the season. Those who had already purchased tickets for that performance will have their tickets reissued for the new performance date, according to the release from the Utah Symphony.
Many of the performances that had been scheduled for the 2020 festival have been rescheduled for 2021. The rescheduled concerts include:
- Patriotic Pops featuring Capathia Jenkins on July 2
- Kool & The Gang on July 9
- Super Diamond on July 16
- The Magical Music of Harry Potter on July 23
- Take Me Home: The Music of John Denver starring Jim Curry on July 24
- Little River Band on July 30
- 1812 Overture with Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 on July 31
- The Beach Boys on August 7.
The previously announced performances with The Doo Wop Project and Preservation Hall Jazz Band are not being rescheduled for summer 2021. Those who had already purchased tickets for these performances will receive a gift certificate for the full value of their ticket purchase that is valid through August 31, 2021, according to the release.
Other performances, including the Utah Symphony’s Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater performance, chamber music performances at St. Mary’s Church, and art galleries on Main Street in Park City, will be announced at a later date.
