SALT LAKE CITY — Since its premiere in 2015, “Hamilton” has sold out theaters across the nation, winning a Pulitzer Prize and 11 Tony Awards along the way.
Starting July 3, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hip-hop Broadway musical will be available to stream on Disney Plus.
A touring production of “Hamilton” came to Utah in 2018, selling out the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City within four hours, and is set to return Dec. 15-Jan. 17, 2021.
Here are five songs from the musical to help you get ready to watch the film. These are among some of the most popular “Hamilton” songs, according to iTunes’ popularity rankings.
They are also taken from near the beginning of the play to avoid spoiling the experience for those who haven’t seen it yet.

‘Alexander Hamilton’
This is the first song in the musical. It introduces the main character, U.S. founding father Alexander Hamilton, and sets the scene for the play.
‘My Shot’
This fast-paced rap shows Hamilton’s personality and passion for gaining independence from Britain leading up to the American Revolution. (A video of this song is not included here because it contains explicit language.)

‘The Schuyler Sisters’
This upbeat number introduces Angelica, Eliza and Peggy Schuyler, three sisters who play an important role in the story.
‘You’ll Be Back’
This hilarious ballad portrays King George’s feelings about the American colony seeking independence from Britain in the form of a love song.
‘Helpless’
This song depicts when Hamilton meets the Schuyler sisters at a ball and gives some insight into their relationships.
