“Glee” star Naya Rivera likely drowned in a “tragic accident” while boating with her son at Lake Piru in California, authorities said Thursday.

Rivera went missing on Wednesday night at Lake Piru in California. Efforts began immediately to find her. But authorities said Thursday it’s likely she died in a tragic accident.

“We’re presuming that an accident happened and we’re presuming that she drowned in the lake,” said Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Dye on Thursday, according to NBC News.

He said there were no signs of foul play or anything of the sort “besides a tragic accident.”

As I reported this week, a boater found Rivera’s son alone in the middle of the water. The boy told authorities that he and his mother went swimming in the lake. He returned to the boat. But, he said, his mother, Rivera, never made it back.

Authorities plan to continue the search for Rivera. More than 100 people from agencies are searching for Rivera in the area.

Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Buschow said on Thursday drones, helicopters and dive teams would search for her, according to CBS Los Angeles.

“There’s a lot of challenges in a reservoir this size, at times with visibility. I don’t have details yet as to the depth of the area where the boat was found or what conditions they’re encountering out there.”

“Glee”cast members shared thoughts and prayers Thursday for their missing co-star, saying they hope that she is found alive and well, as I wrote for the Deseret News.

Chord Overstreet said, “love and hug on the people you can, while you can. I love you. Everyone please send out your prayers.”
