Disney Plus is not offering a free trial right now for its streaming service.

  • The service originally launched in November with a free seven-day trial for new subscribers. But the trial doesn’t appear to be live anymore.
  • Disney Plus costs $6.99 per month (or $69.99 for a year). There is also a bundled package, which offered Hulu and ESPN Plus subscriptions for one fee of $12.99 per month.
  • Business Insider said: “It’s possible that Disney could decide to bring the free trial back at a later date.”

When did this happen?

  • According to CNET, Disney Plus shut down its free trial subscription back in June.
  • A Disney spokeswoman said: “The service was set at an attractive price-to-value proposition that we believe delivers a compelling entertainment offering on its own.”

Why this matters:

  • The lack of a free trial comes during the same weekend that Disney Plus releases the film version of the Broadway play “Hamilton.”
  • The “Hamilton” film hits Disney Plus at midnight on Friday, bringing one of the world’s most successful shows to television screens everywhere.
