“The Baby-Sitter’s Club” comes to Netflix tomorrow, which will turn the popular books into an updated television series for a new generation, according to Entertainment Weekly.

And Alicia Silverstone — who will star in the series as the mother of the Baby-Sitter’s Club’s founder, Kristy — says it’s perfect for families.

The new series, like the books, follows a group of preteen girls who start their own business, babysitting for local families in their community. The cast includes Sophia Grace as Kristy Thomas, Malia Baker as Mary Ann Spier, Momona Tamanda as Claudia Kishi, and Shay Rudolph as Stacey McGill, according to People magazine.

The first “Baby-Sitter’s Club” book was published in 1986, and since then there have been over 100 books added to the series, not including other spin-off series.

Silverstone recently spoke to EW about the new show and why she feels like it’s a good fit for families.

“It’s nice to watch it as a family because it’s such feel-good content for our precious little ones,” Silverstone told EW. “I think that’s important. I don’t have to worry if my son wants to watch this — and he loves the show, by the way.”

“It’s really good medicine in the way that you know you can let your kids watch it, you can feel good about them watching but not to have to worry that they’re getting icky messages or sassy talk or the voices are annoying or are violent, all the things,” said Silverstone, according to EW.

The show has so far received praise from many critics. It currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes,

New York Times TV critic James Poniewozik wrote that the show was “sweet but not cloying, smart but not cynical, full-hearted and funny enough to please both grown readers of the original books and the young target audience of the new series — and even plenty of viewers (like me) who are neither.”
