Walt Disney World has reportedly closed two rides amid the phased reopening of the coronavirus pandemic, ClickOrlando.com reports.
What’s getting closed?
Walt Disney World will close down two major rides amid the reopening, including:
- Primeval Whirl — This ride can be found in DinoLand USA in Animal Kingdom. The ride took people on an extinction adventure with cartoon dinosaurs.
- Rivers of Light: We Are One — This was a nighttime event at Animal Kingdom that included water projections, floats and lighting effects, too.
Disney decided to close these rides as “they continue to evaluate the needs of the guests in order to help to run their business,” ClickOrlando.com reports.
What about the Stitch ride?
- Magic Kingdom’s Stitch’s Great Escape has been closed, too, per Fox 35 Orlando. There are some mixed reports about whether the ride will become seasonal.
- According to CinemaBlend, the ride’s closure is “is no shock to those that follow the comings and goings of Walt Disney World.
- There have been rumors of a replacement. But there has been no official announcement yet.
- The ride originally replaced the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter in 2004 — a controversial ride at Disney World because of its horror aspects. But the Stitch ride saw low attendance numbers and was on a seasonal schedule for years.
