Pioneer Day is celebrated each year on July 24 to mark the day that Brigham Young and the first group of Latter-day Saint pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. As an official state holiday in Utah, it is usually celebrated with parades, fireworks, rodeos and more.

The holiday will be celebrated differently this year, as many events — including Salt Lake City’s Days of ’47 celebration, Ogden’s Pioneer Days celebration and rodeo, and the Deseret News Marathon — have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even though many events will have to wait until 2021, here are some of the places where fireworks and other Pioneer Day celebrations will still be happening in 2020.

Note: This is not an all-inclusive list and events are subject to change. Email features@deseretnews.com with information, including location, dates and times, for any additional holiday events in Utah.
