A new and futuristic movie theater concept set to launch in 2021 resembles the Galactic Senate from “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith”

Oma Cinema shared a new video of the upcoming movie theater design set to launch in Paris, France, next year.

The design — created by architect Pierre Chican — doesn’t have traditional rows for seating. Rather, viewers sit in small booths that resemble box seating in opera houses, according to MovieWeb.

The design immediately promotes social distancing, something needed during the coronavirus pandemic.

The design loosely resembles the Galaxies Opera House was an opera theater located in the Uscru District on the planet Coruscant, too.

  • This is just the latest concept for the future of movie theaters. Floating movie theaters have become all the rage in Paris and plan to travel to the United States, hitting cities like Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, Ohio, Austin, Texas, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and New York, as the Deseret News reported.
  • At the beginning of the pandemic, there was some discussion that movie theaters might resembles Apple Stores in the future, where guests check in and can view aspects of the movie from their iPads, which I wrote about for Deseret.com.
