Apple released a new iOS last week that allows people to customize their home screens.

Social media has already flooded the internet with ideas for new homepages and widgets.

  • “Together with iPhone, iOS is central to how we navigate our lives and stay connected, and we are making it even more powerful and easier to use in iOS 14, with the biggest update ever to the Home Screen,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering. “We are thrilled to see the incredible ways developers are taking advantage of widgets and App Clips to create new experiences that we think customers are going to love.”

Creating a custom home screen can take some time. It requires a few different downloads that will suck up a big part of your day.

To start, you’ll want to decide on a theme. Then, download the wallpaper backgrounds and whatever photos you want to use for the app icons.

Then, download Widgetsmith, which will help you customize your widgets to look like you want them to, according to The Verge.

  • “Once you’ve created your widget, just head to your homescreen, long-press on the screen to bring up the customization options, then click the + sign in the top left of your screen to add a widget. Scroll down to find your Widgetsmith creations.”

Then, download the Apple Shortcuts app to add the custom icons. Click the “+” sign to create a new app. Then hit add action —> scripting —> open app —> choose and pick the apps you want, according to The Verge.
