A new commercial calls for California to reopen parts of Orange County, Calif., including Disneyland.
What’s going on?
The Reopen O.C. Now group — which includes city leaders from of Anaheim, Buena Park, and Garden Grove — has partnered with the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce to create the commercial that calls on Disneyland to reopen.
- The 30-second commercial puts pressure on California Gov. Gavin Newsom to reopen parts of the state.
- The commercial said: “Tell Gov. Newsom to help Anaheim get back to work. Let’s reopen theme parks and reawaken our region.”
The Reopen OC group said: “The state of California has issued health care guidelines to allow for the reopening of virtually every aspect of life and business, except theme parks. This lack of guidance means these economic engines, responsible for close to 100,000 jobs in Southern California, can’t finalize plans for reopening.”
Is Disneyland ready to reopen?
Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, recently held a private virtual press conference were he said Disneyland is ready to reopen.
- “The longer we wait, the more devastating the impact will be to the Orange County and Anaheim communities, and the tens of thousands of people who rely on us for employment,”
- “We are ready, and more importantly, it’s time.”
