Universal Orlando announced a new ride Monday centered around “Jurassic World” that will be available when the pandemic is (hopefully) over.
What’s going on?
The new “Jurassic World VelociCoaster” ride will be added to the Islands of Adventure location in summer 2021.
- The ride will launch passengers from a magnetic system to kick off the ride.
The VelociCoaster will have two launches — one which will hit 70 miles per hour, according to USA Today.
- The second launch will send the ride up a steep hill, over a brief crest, and then down the steep rise (like a top hat).
There will also be a “zero-gravity inverted stall” point on the ride.
- “It will flip passengers upside down and leave them dangling as the train travels along 100 feet of track at a relatively slow speed,” according to USA Today. “The inversion will be especially unnerving since riders will be tethered to their seats with only lap restraints. The resort is also promising 12 seconds of airtime, the giddy, butterflies-in-your-stomach, tushy-lifting feeling caused by negative G-forces.”
