Robert Pattinson has tested positive for COVID-19, just days after “The Batman” resumed filming and causing production on the film to be put on hold for a second time, Vanity Fair reported on Thursday.
Warner Bros. has not confirmed that Pattinson is the one who is sick, but did release a statement that said a “crew member” had tested positive and that filming for “The Batman” had been stopped, according to Variety.
However, sources confirmed to both Vanity Fair and The Hollywood Reporter that Pattinson had tested positive.
“A member of ‘The Batman’ production has tested positive for COVID-19 and is isolating in accordance with established protocols,” a spokesperson for Warner Bros. said in a statement, according to Variety. “Filming is temporarily paused.”
“The Batman” had previously completed about seven weeks of filming when production was shut down in March, according to CNBC. Another three months are reportedly still needed to finish filming.
The first trailer for “The Batman” debuted at DC’s FanDome event in August, the Deseret News reported.
Pattinson also made a surprise appearance during the event, according to People magazine.
“As many of you probably already know, we were in the beginning stages of production when COVID hit, so now I’m very anxious to get back to work and continue to form this beloved character,” Pattinson said, according to People. “I’ve always been a massive fan.”
“The Batman” is intended to be released in 2021, according to Vanity Fair.
