SALT LAKE CITY — Flavortown can be anywhere. But in the case of Friday’s new episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” Flavortown happens to be in Salt Lake City, just west of I-15.

The popular Food Network Series, hosted by restaurateur Guy Fieri, will showcase Fieri’s recent visit to Red Iguana, arguably Salt Lake’s most renowned restaurant. Red Iguana posted the news on its Facebook page on Wednesday.

According to the Food Network’s website, this new episode is themed “Smothered and Covered,” and will feature Red Iguana’s legendary mole sauce.

This isn’t Fieri’s first visit to Red Iguana. “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” featured the Mexican restaurant in 2008.

“When it comes to the mix of funky, eclectic places that we do, you guys are kicking some butt,” Fieri said of Salt Lake City in 2008.

Friday’s new episode is scheduled to air at 10 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time on the Food Network.
