“WandaVision” star Paul Bettany recently revealed that “Avengers: Endgame” almost had a “stinger” scene that would have hinted at the new “WandaVision” project.

Context

Vision — an android superhero — died in “Avengers: Infinity War” at the hands of Thanos. But the character recently returned in “WandaVision” in an alternate reality that’s more like a sitcom than anything else.

Vision did not appear in “Avengers: Endgame.” His partner, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) tried to get revenge for Vision’s death by attacking Thanos.

Vision almost appeared

Bettany said in a recent interview with IMDb that Vision almost made an appearance in “Endgame.” But Marvel boss Kevin Feige cut the idea.

At one point I was going to be in a tag, where you opened a sort of body bag drawer and there was the Vision. Kevin kind of talked to me and said, ‘I’ve got to pull the shots.’ I was like, ‘Ugh!’ Because I really wanted that profit participation.

In filmmaking, a “tag” is often considered as a post-credits scene. So, if that’s the case, “Endgame” may have had a post-credits scene that would have set up “WandaVision.”

So how is Vision alive?

It’s unclear how Vision is alive in “WandaVision” yet. But Bettany recently told TV Line that all will be explained soon. He said fans should trust the process (and Marvel) to deliver a perfect answer.

  • “Trust in Marvel,” Bettany told TV Line. “We got ya. Everybody, stop working so hard to figure it out. Buckle in and love it, and it will take you on a ride. All of these things are going to be explained.”
