“No Time to Die” — the next James Bond film — has been delayed yet again, as MGM has pushed the film back to later in 2021.

What’s going on?

MGM planned to release “No Time to Die” on April 2, 2021. But on Thursday, the company announced the film would be pushed back to Oct. 8.

Some context

The film was set to be released on April 10, 2020. But fears over the coronavirus led MGM to delay the release. Several fans cried out about the film being released at a dangerous time.

  • Experts told the BBC News at the time that the coronavirus would peak in the springtime, which instantly raised concerns from fans of the James Bond franchise, who wanted the release delayed to avoid infection. It’s been almost one year since then, and the pandemic is still ongoing.
  • The “No Time to Die” delay set off a chain of events that led to other major films — like “Mulan” and “Black Widow” — to be delayed as well as the pandemic rolled out.
