“I think most would probably say it’s the scariest (season) out of the previous three, which I love because it’s very fun to film,” the 18-year-old actor, who plays “Stranger Things” character Dustin Henderson, told Us Weekly in a recent interview.
Although he didn’t go into much detail about the fourth season — which “Stranger Things” fans are eagerly awaiting — Matarazzo said he and his fellow actors try to keep a “happy, energetic” environment on set while they’re filming the darker storylines.
“We don’t have to try too hard. We like each other, which is always a plus,” he told Us Weekly. “As well as having a lot of the heavy, dark stuff in the show, it’s surrounded by a lot of lightheartedness (and) a good amount of comedy. … We usually have a fun time on set.”
Matarazzo has previously said that production for “Stranger Things” has been “a slower process than usual” during the pandemic, the Deseret News reported.
“Which is really saying something because we take our sweet time making the show anyway,” the actor told People magazine earlier this month. “So it’s not as steady paced or as consistent as I think any of us would like it to be, but we do our best and we’re playing it by ear.
“I think the most important thing is that when we’re working, we’re all staying safe,” he added.
Although Netflix has not yet announced a release date for the fourth season, it is expected to come out sometime this year, according to the Deseret News.
