We may have new confirmation that the Avengers Campus experience at Disneyland will open in 2021 — despite the pandemic.
What’s going on?
The Orange County Register and multiple outlets report that the D23 Disney fan club recently confirmed the Avengers Campus will debut in 2021.
- The announcement reportedly came in an email to the fan club, according to ComicBook.com.
- Avengers Campus was originally expected to open on July 18, 2020. However, the pandemic closed Disneyland, which delayed the opening of the park.
- Disneyland’s website doesn’t list an official date for the opening, saying the campus will be “coming soon.”
What to expect:
The characters Iron Man, Black Widow, Black Panther, Thor and Captain Marvel will appear at the location. The park is meant to will have a Spider-Man Ride, a Doctor Strange effects show and a restaurant based on Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Earlier this year, Whoopi Goldberg, a Disney fan, called on Disney to build a new Wakanda theme park to honor the late actor Chadwick Boseman, who died of colon cancer, as I wrote about for the Deseret News.
Boseman starred as Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Panther lived in the fictional country of Wakanda. Goldberg said there should be a Wakanda attraction at the park.
