Fellow gamers, it’s time to put on your overalls because today is “Mar10 Day,” a day set aside to celebrate our favorite princess-saving, fireball-throwing, dinosaur-riding mustachioed plumber.

What is Mar10 Day?

Rolling Stone reports that every year on March 10, video game fans around the world commemorate Mario, Nintendo’s iconic mustachioed plumber, because when March 10 is abbreviated (MAR10) it looks a lot like the word “Mario.” According to Nintendo, this year’s Mar10 Day is extra special as it marks the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. video game.

How to celebrate

For those who are interested in observing “Mar10 Day” this year, National Day Calendar and Rolling Stone offer a few recommendations for how to celebrate:

  • Host an online video game tournament with your friends.
  • Dust off your old game console and play your favorite classic Mario game.
  • Make a snack tray that represents your favorite “power-ups.”
  • Rent the 1993 cult classic, live action “Super Mario Bros.” movie.

Mar10 Day deals

According to Rolling Stone, Nintendo is offering certain Mario games at a discount in honor of the event, a rare occurrence outside of major shopping holidays like Black Friday.

Yahoo! Finance reports that now through March 13, shoppers can find Mario games like Super Mario Party, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Super Mario Maker 2 and Mario Tennis Aces at a 35% discount on Nintendo’s eShop and Amazon. According to the site, the discount brings those titles down to approximately $39 each, marking an all-time low for some of them.

Other Mario games including Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are also on sale on Amazon, but not at the 35% discount, Yahoo! Finance reports.
