“The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” trailers have shown a new location that has never been seen before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kevin Feige — president of Marvel Studios — recently told Entertainment Weekly.

What’s going on?

Feige told Entertainment Weekly the new Disney+ Marvel series will have a new location, which is visible in the trailers. He said this location is a major Easter egg for Marvel fans.

  • “There’s a setting in particular that people have already glimpsed in some of the trailers that is a setting from the Marvel Comics that was not previously available to us, but it’s more of an Easter egg in and of itself,” Feige told Entertainment Weekly.

Well, per ComicBook.com, the location might be the island Madripoor, which comes from the X-Men comics. This would fall in line with Feige’s comments that the setting “was not previously available” to Marvel since Disney didn’t own the rights to the X-Men film content until it bought 21st Century Fox in 2019.

What is Madripoor?

So Madripoor is a Southeast Asian island that has a “Hightown” and “Lowtown.” The island has become a central location in many Marvel comic book storylines, according to ComicBook.com.

Characters such as Madame Hydra, Daken, and Mystique ruled the island in the past, too according to ComicBook.com.

Fans have been waiting for months to see the X-Men make their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In fact, we thought we got our first example of that in “WandaVision” when Evan Peters — who played Quicksilver in the X-Men films for 21st Century Fox — showed up as Pietro, the name of the Quicksilver character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

  • The show ended up revealing a twist for the character (which we spoil here) that revealed Peters’ character was not Quicksilver at all.
