More than two decades after “Bill Nye the Science Guy” aired its final episode, Bill Nye (the Science Guy) has decided to step back in front of the camera and host another series.

Deadline reports that Nye is slated to host and executive produce a new science show titled “The End is Nye” for Peacock, the NBCUniversal streaming service that launched in 2020.

About the show

“The End is Nye” will demystify the threats of natural and manufactured catastrophes, Variety reports, including volcanic eruptions, asteroid strikes, chemical warfare, viruses and more. According to the site, the show will offer viewers a blueprint for how to prevent, survive and mitigate such disasters.

Deadline reports that Brannon Braga has signed on to executive produce the new series in addition to directing all of its episodes. According to IMDb, Braga previously served as an executive producer on shows like “Star Trek: Voyager,” “24” and “Cosmos: Possible Worlds.”

“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins will also serve as executive producers, per Variety.

What Nye’s been up to

Nye has been rather busy since his TV role as “the science guy” concluded in the late ’90s. In the 2010s, Nye authored a series of New York Times bestselling adventure fiction novels titled “Jack and the Geniuses” and voiced a recurring character on Disney’s “Miles from Tomorrowland” series.

More recently, the science guy made a brief appearance in David Fincher’s Golden Globe nominated Netflix movie “Mank” as the California gubernatorial candidate Upton Sinclair, and he participated in the first season of FOX’s new celebrity competition show “The Masked Dancer.
