“WandaVision” producer Mary Livanos recently said the finalpost-credit scene after the series finale of “WandaVision” sets up a wild story in the upcoming “Captain Marvel 2.”

What happened?

The “WandaVision” series finale included a scene where Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) speaks with Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) in Westview as the SWORD organization begins to clean up the mess Wanda caused. Rambeau then heads to a movie theater where an agent appears as a Skrull (the green-skinned aliens seen in “Captain Marvel”), as I wrote for the Deseret News.

  • The agent tells Monica one of her mother’s friends wants to speak with her, who then asks where. The agent points to the sky — possibly referencing space and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who was last seen in the post-credits scene of “Spider-Man: Far From Home” working at a space station with other Skrulls, as I wrote for the Deseret News.

What does it mean?

Livanos told Entertainment Tonight that the post-credit scene will set up what’s to come in “Captain Marvel 2” and what’s next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

  • “It’s not Monica’s first interaction with a Skrull. Just (Parris’). It was so cool to see Teyonah interact with her Skrull counterpart, just knowing the crazy ‘Captain Marvel’ universe that’s in store,” said Livanos. “There’s just so much more zany that it’s going to get, it’s fun to think about.”

Similarly, Parris told Entertainment Tonight Canada there are a few storylines from “WandaVision” that will pick up in “Captain Marvel 2.”

  • “Well, as you know, I was announced to be joining the cast of ‘Captain Marvel 2’ with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and the Kamala Khan character,” said Parris. “I do believe that we’re going to get more into that relationship, and what’s going on with those two.”

We don’t know much about “Captain Marvel 2.” In fact, Larson said she can’t say much about the project.

  • “In terms of the sequel, one of the things I get asked a lot — a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot — is if there’s anything I can tell you about the sequel. And the thing I can tell you is that: I can’t tell you anything!”
