Comedian and Christmas legend Tim Allen recently revealed on a new podcast episode why he liked former President Donald Trump and why he is a conservative.

  • Simply put — he liked Trump because the former president made people mad.

What happened?

Allen said on the latest episode of Marc Maron’s podcast that he became a conservative because he doesn’t like paying taxes, and he doesn’t know how the government is spending his income, according to HuffPost.

Allen then explained how he has avoided getting backlash for his conservative views.

  • “I literally don’t preach anything,” said Allen.
  • “What I’ve done is just not joined into, as I call it, the ‘we culture,’” he continued. “I’m not telling anybody else how to live. I don’t like that, ‘we should do this’ or, ‘we should do that.’”

And then, Allen appeared to reference Trump with how he has handled politics, HuffPost reports.

  • “Once I realized that the last president pissed people off, I kind of liked that,” Allen said. “So it was fun to just not say anything. Didn’t join in the lynching crowd.”

Flashback

Allen’s political beliefs made headlines because of his sitcom “Last Man Standing.” As I previously wrote about, the show had a controversial cancellation with ABC back in 2017. The show was canceled despite having high ratings, which confused so many fans at the time. Fans said the show was canceled due to its conservative politics.

Fox, a typically conservative network, picked up the show due to the fan response. Fox announced in October 2020 that the upcoming season — which debuted in January — would be the final season of the show, as I wrote about.
