“WandaVision” star Paul Bettany has been hyping a major cameo for the show’s finale, and it turns out the secret start set to appear is ... Paul Bettany.

What’s going?

Bettany started the rumor of an actor making a cameo appearance when he told Black Girl Nerds podcast: “There’s stuff that I can’t talk to you about, where I get to work with an actor that’s going to be a surprise for everybody. I get to work with an actor that I’ve been wanting to work with forever, who is just unbelievable. We have some real fireworks together.”

But now, Bettany seems to have revealed the truth. He told “Good Morning America” on Thursday: “You know when you think something is going to be funny, and you say it? And then you actually panic about it? Because that’s what I did. Fans started guessing about who it might be, and they were guessing people like Benedict Cumberbatch or Patrick Stewart. And I was thinking, ‘... that’s a good idea!’ And they’re going to be so disappointed when they find out it’s me!”

Context

Fans have since speculated about who the actor could be. Theories ranged from Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) appearing on the show to Magneto (Ian McKellan) from the X-Men series stopping by for a visit. There were also some theories that Mark Ruffalo’s Smart Hulk and Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym might make cameos in the show.

But Bettany’s appearance makes total sense since the eighth episode of the series ended with a new Vision showing up. Yes, that’s right. There are now two Visions.

“WandaVision” ended with a post-credits scene that showed SWORD agent Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg) finding a new version of Vision that seemed to lack the red colors and had more of white color. Tyler said the new Vision needed power from Wanda’s alternate reality, called the Hex, in order to work.

But remember

This could be a troll, too. Bettany might be trolling fans in order to avoid the previous spoiler, according to ComicBook.com.
