Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez said Thursday they will officially end their engagement and sever their relationship.
- The couple previously paused their wedding due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Lopez and Rodriguez released a joint statement to NBC’s “Today” show that explained the separation.
- “We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” Lopez and Rodriguez said in a joint statement. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”
Rumors of JLO, AROD breakup
Rumors that Lopez and Rodriguez had split up began in March. There were some recent reports the two had elected to give their relationship another go, hoping to keep their relationship together, according to Marie Claire.
- “It’s not been an easy road, but they are committed to it,” an insider told Marie Claire on Tuesday, April 13. “Their lives are so intertwined in their businesses and with the kids that it was really worth it to them to put in the work and make it happen. They really love each other’s children and are one big, giant family and that’s hard to find. They both realize that. There’s still a lot that needs to be done, but Jennifer has made it clear she does not want to lose Alex.”
Clearly, this doesn’t seem to be the case as the two announced their official separation Thursday.
