People don’t seem to be too concerned over Gina Carano, according to a survey from Engagious/Schlesinger, which reviews data from various focus groups.
Do people care that Gina Carano was canceled?
Data from Engagious/Schlesinger — which was reviewed by Axios — showed how 13 women and men felt about cancel culture and the figures who have been canceled.
- In total, zero of the 13 people felt “very troubled” about Gina Carano getting fired by Disney. Of the reported results, Carano had the lowest amount of people concerned for her.
- The next closest was MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, who had 1 out of 13 feeling troubled that he lost major retailers after questioning the legitimacy of the 2020 election, according to Axios.
However, a poll — which came from The Daily Wire — found 72% of Americans feel Disney’s decision to fire Carano was unjustified. Meanwhile, 28% said the firing was justified.
- “Corporate America’s lunge into ‘wokeness’ and cancel culture might hit a bump in the road given public reaction to Disney’s recent actions,” Neil Newhouse of Public Opinion Strategies said after reviewing the survey’s results, per PopCulture.com.
What happened to Gina Carano?
Disney and Lucasfilm decided to cut ties with Carano after months of her receiving social media backlash. Carano often tweeted her opinions on multiple hot-button issues, like the COVID-19 vaccine, Democrats, face masks and voter fraud, among other political issues, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
Before she was fired, she shared a post that compared people who get scolded over their political beliefs to Jewish people being attacked during Nazi Germany.
