The “Fast and Furious” franchise could one day have a crossover film with “Jurassic World,” which means we could see race cars and dinosaurs in one movie.
“Fast and Furious” director Justin Lin said during a virtual press conference this week that there could be a crossover event between “Jurassic World” and “Fast and Furious.”
- “Well, I’ve never said never to anything,” Lin said, according to CNET. “And the fact that part of our philosophy is not to ever be boxed in or labeled. And that’s all I will say.”
“Fast and Furious” and “Jurassic World” are both under the Universal Studios banner.
Michelle Rodriguez, who stars as Letty in “Fast and Furious,” said she could see the two series working together, according to CNET.
- “Once you reach a certain pinnacle, there’s nowhere to go but to cross brand and merge, it’s what big corporations do with each other when they get too big, you know what I mean?” she said. “You just have to brand and merge with each other. But the only thing standing in the way is lawyers and studios. Because, usually the brands that you’re trying to merge belong to different studios or whatever. But it’s under the same umbrella. I don’t know. I’m just saying. It works.”
‘F9’ heads to space
The newest “Fast and Furious” film — the ninth in the franchise — is taking the series to space, which had long been a joke among fans of the series since each movie keeps getting bigger and bigger in scope.
The film’s newest trailer shows characters Tej and Roman wearing space suits to take a car — which converts into a rocket ship — into space.
‘F9’ release date
“F9” — the ninth film in the “Fast and Furious” franchise — was set to hit theaters sometime in 2020 before the coronavirus outbreak forced the film to be delayed. As I wrote for the Deseret News, the new film will be released June 25 now.
