Is Emma Watson about to retire from acting? Rumors have been circulating for months that she might be done with her acting career. But let’s turn to Watson herself to see what’s true and what’s not.

The Emma Watson retirement rumor

Questions about Watson’s acting career began back in February after the Daily Mail reported she had become “dormant” and was thinking of giving up on her acting career.

  • One source told Daily Mail: “Emma has gone underground, she is settling down with Leo. They’re laying low. Maybe she wants a family.”
  • “(Emma) is now in LA, where a picture was taken this month, but her publicist confirms her career is ‘dormant’ and she ‘is not taking on new commitments.’”

Emma Watson responds to retirement rumor

Emma Watson finally responded to the rumors on Twitter this week, saying she has nothing to hide and she is still embracing her career.

  • “Rumours about whether I’m engaged or not, or whether my career is ‘dormant or not’ are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue,” she tweeted. “If I have news — I promise I’ll share it with you.
  • “In the mean time please assume no news from me just means I’m quietly spending the pandemic the way most people are,” she added. “Failing to make sourdough bread (!), caring for my loved ones and doing my best not to spread a virus that is still affecting so many people.”
  • “I am sending so much love to you, hoping you’re ok and as well and happy as you can be in these strange times,” she finished. “And again, thank you to everyone working so hard to keep us safe and well.”

According to BuzzFeed News, Watson’s manager Jason Weinberg responded to the news, too, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying, “Emma’s social media accounts are dormant but her career isn’t.”
