Disney CEO Bob Chapek said recently that Disney Parks will slowly add more attendance and capacity, with full capacity coming by the end of the year, Deadline reports.
When will Disney reach full capacity?
Chapek reportedly said that would be double-digit growth over the next few months. Reaching full capacity at the Disney theme parks remains a goal for the end of the year.
- “You’re going to see an immediate increase in the number of folks that we’re able to admit into our parks, through our reservation systems that we recently implemented, so we’re very, very excited about that,” he said, according to The Orlando Sentinel.
But Chapek said there’s still a major issue that the theme parks are trying to deal with — social distancing. He reportedly said “the famous zero feet, versus six feet versus three feet” debate, is ongoing at the park, so they’re struggling to figure out what proper social distancing looks like.
Per The Orlando Sentinel, Chapek said the reopening of Disney theme parks is “bringing a lot of people back to work. That is going to be an even bigger catalyst for growth and attendance.”
Disney updates guidelines
Disney Parks has been listening to the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which recently updated its guidance to say fully vaccinated people don’t need to wear face-coverings indoors or outdoors, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
- Disney World said: “Face coverings are optional in outdoor common areas at Walt Disney World Resort, but are still required upon entering and throughout all attractions, theaters and transportation.”
- So, as CNN put it, “if you’re walking down Main Street, U.S.A., you don’t have to wear a mask but if you’re riding Space Mountain, you’ll still have to.”
